In 2019 Jessica Preston was initially diagnosed with breast cancer. She fought that bout and another bout after that. Unfortunately she lost her third battle with metastatic breast cancer on March 24th, 2021. Since then, Jessica's family knew that they needed to do something to keep her memory alive for her two young kids and to be a support for women during their breast cancer journey.
Jessica always wore a pair of pink shoes to her chemotherapy treatments, and those shoes were the inspiration for Pink Shoe Project. During all of her battles, she had a large support group and cherished every experience she came across. She often reached out to others going through the same battle as her. Even on her toughest days, she was an encouragement with a smile and laugh for those around her.
Through all of our efforts, we want our Pink Shoe Peeps (pink shoe recipients) to understand, "Every journey takes a different path, but no one walks alone." Our hopes are that one day we will live in a world where breast cancer doesn't exist, but in the meantime we want to be here for support in whatever way. Providing pink shoes is only the start.
From a friend of Jessica's:
"Strong. Fierce. Faithful. That was Jessica and, we pray, that is YOU too! These shoes are more than just shoes. They are shoes that have been prayed over by the army behind you fighting with you and praying for you on the journey GOD has chosen for YOU. These shoes represent a person with determination in their eyes, fight in their blood and a trustworthy heart that praises the Lord (even on the darkest days.) Our prayer is that these shoes bring you hope and the will to FIGHT through this journey. These shoes are a reminder that Jessica is with you every step of the way and YOU ARE NOT ALONE."
